My Current Project

Lost Lake

Photobucket Pictured above is a sim throwing darts at a Pub in Lost Lake. It is the first of many testings I will be doing over the next many days. So far, I have not encountered any problems, but it is still very early in the process. After completing Laural Falls, I did eventually run into a problem of which I have not yet resolved. This problem only occurs after several hours of game play. It is a problem that seems to be happening frequently with other players, in other TS3 games, and in other TS3 worlds. The problem is intermittent freezing. In addition to the freezing, the Sims have once again returned to spawning on the bridge. I have rechecked Laural Falls for routing issues, but have found none. Also, the world was not created with custom content, so that is not an issue here. In researching this problem, I have read that the issue is related to user-created worlds, and that is what prompted me to begin a new world. So far, I am not experiencing any intermittent freezing in Lost Lake, but I am deliberately keeping the builds extremely simple (as compared to Laural Falls). Also, am using a medium-sized map and condensing the actual playing area. One other major difference between these two worlds is that I have elected not to use the "distant terrain" object in Lost Lake. I had noticed that after placing the distant terrain object in Laural Falls, the routing grid was distorted and broken in places. I have experienced this same freezing issue while playing the Bridgeport world, which tells me it is not a problem limited to user-created worlds. The freezing in Bridgeport began after several days of game-play and after creating new lots and editing existing lots. So, I went into CAW and had a look at the "Lite worlds" created by EA, and interestingly, I discovered these worlds had routing problems. One more thing I've noticed is that if I create something large and elaborate in game (as opposed to in CAW) I experience some lag on the lot. The lag is directly relevant to the size of the build. However, if I create the same build in CAW and then export and install the world into the game, I experience no lag on that particular lot. So, (knocking on wood) I am constructing Lost Lake with the focus on creating a world that doesn't cause any game freezing. At this posting, there are 23 lots in place, and there has been no lag and no freezing.

Update (07/03/2012):

Lost Lake is complete, and testing is complete. I will upload after I've had a few days to decide if I want to add Pets EP objects.
